A Poem

Soft and sun-kissed

Thick black lines

Connect my heart's ink

To my body's canvas

But if you pay close attention,

You will see scars sprinkled about

Some are brown and bumpy

Others, the epitome of

"X marks the spot"

I often get stares - sometimes even bold questions

But I don't mind them

To me,

These scars are evidence of strength

Each representing an obstacle overcome in my life

My body is not a temple, but a brilliant machine

That has triumphed through war

Collecting medals of honor along the way.
