National Eating Disorder Awareness Week: February 22-28, 2021

If you follow Fight Like A Warrior on Instagram, you may have seen us post Warrior stories, resources and information about eating disorders this past week. February 22-28, 2021 is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. Today, we are sharing Ozzie's story on our blog.

My eating disorder originated in childhood, stemming from many things, one of which being gender dysphoria.

My desire to look and present differently morphed into a severe eating disorder that consumed every part of my life. Despite my efforts, my eating disorder never changed my body enough to match the body my brain wanted.

Letting go of the deeply held conviction that losing weight would suddenly flood me with gender euphoria and complete contentment with my gender presentation was crucial to any kind of recovery.

I became what I wanted to through coming out, cultivating friends and family who affirmed me, positive aesthetic change, hormone treatment, and surgery. None of this was related to my weight and it never will be.

If you are trans and suffering in the body you are in, an eating disorder will never provide the fullness of euphoria and content that you so deeply deserve.
